The Summit gathers on Treaty 1 Territory, the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Anishininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline, and Nehethowuk Nations, and the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. Treaty 1 is a living agreement, and gathering within it carries living obligations: relationship, reciprocity, and rights-holder leadership. Winnipeg widens the circle of this work, inviting leaders and communities into a national conversation that has not always made room for them. As delegates close Financial Literacy Month at the geographic heart of the country, place and purpose align.

A short walk from the Summit venue, where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet, the Oodena Celebration Circle rests on ground where peoples have gathered for thousands of years. Its name comes from the Anishinaabe word for "heart of the community," and the histories it holds are the Summit's mandate in its oldest form: trade, talks, tradition, and skill sharing. The Circle turns visitors toward earth, fire, water, and sky, toward the winter fires and starlit prairie nights that have always drawn people to this confluence.

When Canada’s financial literacy leaders convene here in the winter of 2026, they enter a tradition of exchange that reaches back thousands of years and inherit its obligation to leave the circle stronger than they found it.
